Hey, Chuck Wendig had a good idea with this thing! Good for Chuck.

Anyway, the long and short of it is that if you make a comment on my posts, then you put yourself in my hands. And my hands believe in Karl Popper’s principle of tolerance.

I want to build a space that’s not just tolerant of others, but welcoming to them. I want women, transgender people, queer people, disabled people, people of colour and all other minorities that I haven’t yet mentioned to be able to come here and feel like this is a community that will listen to them. I want them to be able to trust I’m well-meaning and doing my best to represent them fairly – because I absolutely want to do that. I want, most of all, for people to feel like I’ll have their backs when the nasties come rolling around, and I want for the criticism I recieve to be legitimate things I can take on board.

That means, I am exceptionally intolerant of intolerance. Racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, queerphobia. All of it. And I am not afraid to take a stance where I need to. Bad actors, sealions, and trolls alike will find themselves kicked deep into the spam folders and blocklists until they give up being shits in my house. I am also willing to use said tools against people who are here just to be nasty or tear myself or others down.

You have freedom from the government to say what the fuck you want, but I am not the government, and I will punt you into as many blocklists as I need in order to get the fuck rid of you. In the infamous words of Justin “Hoops” McElroy; “for the millionth time the first amendment protects you from the government not the justin”

Now be nice.
